A woman residing in Cele Nica Area of Oto Awori Local Government Area, Ojo , Lagos accidentally burnt her 4 months old baby to death.
The incident occurred at about 10 pm. The mother went outside the house with her first son ( 2 years Old) leaving the 4 months old baby alone in the house.
Eye witnesses noticed that she went to discuss with a neighbor ( Tatafo) and forgot to switch off the candle light in the house. Obviously , she had been gossiping with her neighbor for hours without remembering that she left the candle light still lit.
Unfortunately , the candle burned completely and set ablaze the house where the 4 months old baby was sleeping, burning the innocent child completely. Rescuers who tried to free the infant said as they tried to carry the remains of the baby, the head pulled off as the fire had already burnt and decapitated the baby.
The remains of the baby have been buried.
This should serve as a warning to all mothers and women who go about gossiping. They should be mindful of how they ignore their responsibilities as mothers. Their primary responsibility is to take care of their children and family.
There are countless families praying to have children, whilst this woman is busy allowing her gift from God to burn to death.
You can imagine the pain the infant suffered. The smoke from the fire would have caused serious choking and then burning sensation in the eyes. The heat from the fire ,before the eventual burn, would have caused that child to scream in agony. All this while, the mother did nothing to save the child.
